Today I decided.

I decided to not buy a metro pass for the month of May. That means I will need to bike 14.1 miles to get to work (and another 14.1 to get home) every day. Now I’ve been doing this haphazardly for the last few weeks, mainly tacking the train in the morning then biking home in the evenings.

I’ll need to step it up over the next two weeks to get myself ready for all that biking. I really need to invest in a few more road repair tools and a decent backpack. While I love my Timbuk2 messenger bag the it’s weight is concentrated on my right shoulder making for serious shoulder pain lugging my laptop there and back.

I should say that I am not forgoing any powered transportation in May, for one it would be a practice in futility because I already have two flights booked to Missouri. I may end up taking a cab or hoping the metro too given the right circumstance. What I will be doing is biking at least 28 miles a day, which is super exciting, especially since the route I take is so nice. It’s mostly bike trails along the Schuylkill River and through the Wissahicken Trail. Anyway wish me luck!
